What We Are Looking For

Our admissions team frequently receives questions about what they are looking for in a prospective Master of Human Resource Management student. You'll find the answer to some of the more common questions below:

Do I need to have an undergraduate degree in business to apply to your program?

No, all majors are welcome and encouraged to apply. Usually, around 30% of each class consists of business majors. The majority of successful non-business students come from a variety of academic backgrounds including - but not limited to - psychology, economics, communications, and political science.

Application Requirements

Applicants to the MHRM degree program must have completed (or will complete prior to enrollment) a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university. Our application process varies slightly for domestic and international applicants but in general requires similar elements including:

Application Deadlines for 2024

We process applications and make financial aid decisions on a rolling admissions basis, meaning that we review and evaluate complete applications as they are submitted rather than waiting until the deadline(s) to begin the review process. Applicants should receive an admission decision from the MHRM program within four weeks of the deadline as long as all application information is received by the stated deadlines below.

Applications are only considered for a specific deadline if you submit your application by the date listed AND complete your checklist in the application portal. We cannot review applications until they are complete. Questions? Email fisher_mhrm@fisher.osu.edu.

Spring 2025 Deadlines

Mid-November, 2024 Only domestic part-time MHRM applicants may apply for spring or autumn term. All other applicants must apply for autumn term. The Spring 2025 application will not open until August 2024.

1 Ohio State Fellowships are from  Ohio State's Graduate School. Watch a quick webinar about the University Fellowship.

2 All admitted applicants are automatically considered for merit-based financial aid. Qualified applications received after this deadline will still be considered as long as funds are available.

3Qualified applications may be accepted after the final application deadline(s) on a space-available basis. Contact fisher_mhrm@fisher.osu.edu with any questions.

Do I apply in autumn or spring?

Both domestic and international students who intend to enroll full-time must apply for the autumn term (autumn 2024 classes start on August 20, 2024). Domestic students who intend to enroll part-time if admitted are encouraged to apply for the autumn term. However, if starting earlier in the spring term is preferable, the MHRM program accepts applications from domestic part-time applicants.

3 reasons to apply early:
  1. Financial Support: Every admitted student (full-time) is automatically reviewed and considered for available Graduate Assistantship and Fellowship nomination opportunities. These opportunities are limited, extremely competitive, and may not be available to late applicants. Please apply early to ensure priority consideration.
  2. Class Size: Fisher intentionally limits its incoming class sizes, so we encourage you to apply early if you decide that the Fisher MHRM program is right for you.
  3. Interest: Applying early to Ohio State is a good signal that you place a priority on attending our MHRM program. A strong interest in enrollment at Ohio State is highly valued by our admissions team.
