Two Fisher alumni share their story of connecting through a college program, and across an ocean, as mentor and mentee.

In partnership with the U.S. Department of State, Fisher is hosting a virtual U.S. Future Leaders Career Readiness Seminar for approximately 50 alumni of the department's Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program. 

Ellora Majumder and Kyle Madura may not have felt like pioneers, but when COVID-19 turned their sure-fire summer global internships upside down, the Fisher students were certainly in unfamiliar territory. 

With the help of the Office of Global Business at Fisher College of Business, the Brazil Gateway connected three Fisher students with virtual internship opportunities with a Brazilian consulting company that yielded positive results and feedback for two of its clients. 

Ellora Majumder was supposed to be in Singapore this summer. Instead, she is sitting in her parents’ basement. Majumder, a rising senior logistics major, is one of countless students across the country whose internship plans changed this summer due to the coronavirus pandemic. But a new virtual internship opportunity at Fisher provided Majumder an opportunity to get a global experience.

Many MiF programs offer a route to more specialized professional qualifications. In 2018, Fisher teamed up with the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association. The deal means students can apply for scholarships to sit the Level I CAIA exam, the first step towards earning a CAIA charter.

As part of its 2019 Alumni Awards celebration, The Ohio State University Max M. Fisher College of Business proudly honored six individuals for their leadership, dedication and service across a number of industries and in communities throughout the United States.

As part of the Ohio Export Internship Program, more than 40 students utilized their export-focused coursework to conduct research on overseas markets, create export compliance manuals and assist with sales and marketing plans. The 43 members of the OEIP Class of 2019 were recently recognized by Lt. Governor Jon Husted, along with Lydia Mihalik, director of the Ohio Development Services Agency. The flexibility to customize an MBA at Fisher based on his interests, eventually helped Karthik Chandrasekaran (MBA  '18) land a job at EY as a senior management consultant.

Freezing the flow of goods between the U.S. and Mexico would have a significant impact on Ohio because of the interconnectedness of global supply chains, according to Tom Goldsby, the Harry T. Mangurian Jr. Foundation Professor in Business at Fisher. 

MBA students who start their studies this fall at Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business will benefit from a newly redesigned curriculum that is more personalized, integrated and experiential than ever before.
